A Ouest-France article hase been posted on 06/11/2026. it summarizes company and activities.

When Vincent Recipon and Romain Berrada launched their venture, Batcapt, in 2024, they initially envisioned their products being used primarily for end-of-life batteries from electrified vehicles. Their connected device attaches to a removed battery and provides continuous monitoring of its status.

The two founders engaged with various stakeholders involved in the lifecycle of electrified vehicle batteries. They discovered that their technology could address a broader range of needs—such as the storage, transport, repair, repurposing, or recycling of tens of thousands of batteries, whether they originate from cars, trucks, heavy machinery, or stationary installations.

While this is an emerging field, the volume of units requiring management is growing rapidly. “It all begins in the after-sales phase. Repairing implies the storage of spare parts, which in turn necessitates transport and logistics. To replace faulty batteries, manufacturers require dedicated repair centers—especially since the vast majority of these units are still under warranty,” explains Vincent Recipon. “The volume of batteries sold doubles every five years, with the majority coming from electric and hybrid vehicles,” notes Recipon.

Knowing the precise condition of a battery prevents it from being discarded when it could still be put to use. “Every stakeholder in the sector needs to be able to determine whether a battery is in good condition or faulty. Our ‘flash diagnostic’ provides a result in less than a minute. Regarding storage, new European safety standards are emerging; it is essential to ensure that batteries remain stable, which is where our continuous monitoring tools come in. Factors like temperature and state of charge must be tracked.

When you have dozens of batteries in a warehouse, continuous monitoring makes the job significantly easier,” emphasizes Vincent Recipon. Today, Vincent and Romain’s challenge is to continue developing their products while raising awareness of them among key players in the sector. The young start-up is also protecting its inventions and seeking funding. It aims to partner with local stakeholders who also wish to develop the battery industry.
